How to Measure Yourself for a Plus Size Body Chain

Getting the right fit matters. Here's exactly how to measure so your body chain sits perfectly.

Body chains are meant to feel good on your skin — not tight, not loose, just right. If you're shopping for a plus size body chain, taking accurate measurements is the difference between a piece you'll actually wear and one that sits in a drawer. We've made hundreds of these by hand, and we've learned what works.

Start with your underbust measurement. Wear an unpadded bra or no bra at all — you want the real you. Wrap a soft measuring tape snugly around your ribcage, just under your bust. Write this number down. This is your baseline. Our Plus Size Body Chain is designed to sit comfortably here, so this measurement matters most.

Next, measure your waist at its narrowest point. For most people, that's slightly above the belly button. Again, keep the tape snug but not tight — imagine the chain sitting there naturally. Body chains should drape, not dig in. If there's a gap between your underbust and waist, note that too. It tells us how your body is shaped, which helps with fit.

Now measure your hip circumference at the fullest part. This matters less for body chains than for anklets or bracelets, but it's helpful to know. Wrap the tape around the widest point of your hips while standing naturally. You're building a complete picture of how the chain will travel down your body.

Here's what most people miss: measure the actual distance from your underbust down to where you want the chain to end. If you like it sitting lower on your hips, measure all the way there. If you prefer a shorter drop, measure less. This is the vertical measurement that determines the overall length you need. Take your time with this one.

Check your measurements twice. Seriously. Do it again tomorrow when you're fresh. Different times of day and different clothing can throw you off by a centimeter or two, and that matters when we're handmaking pieces specifically for you. You're the expert on your own body — trust what you measure.

When you order, you'll choose your size based on these measurements. Our sizing guide matches underbust measurements to our plus size range, and you can always message us directly if you're between sizes or unsure. We're here to help, and we want you to get something that actually fits your life.

The whole point of a body chain is that it makes you feel good. That only happens if it fits right. Take the measurements, be honest about what you find, and pick the size that matches. You'll thank yourself every time you put it on.
