How to Clean Your Stainless Steel Jewelry at Home

Your body jewelry deserves care, not confusion. Here's exactly how to keep it looking new.

You bought stainless steel for a reason — it's built to last through sweat, showers, and real life. But even the best material needs a little attention to stay brilliant. The good news? Cleaning your pieces takes maybe five minutes and nothing you don't already have at home.

Start with warm water and mild dish soap. This is your go-to for regular maintenance, especially after workouts or beach days. Just grab a soft cloth or old toothbrush, work the soapy water gently over every part of your jewelry, then rinse thoroughly under clean running water. Dry it completely with a lint-free cloth — this step matters because water spots can dull the shine.

For pieces like our Layered Pearl Bracelet or any jewelry with delicate details, the soft toothbrush is your best friend. The bristles get into crevices without scratching the metal. Just be gentle around any stone settings or pearl elements, and you're good.

If your jewelry needs deeper cleaning, white vinegar works surprisingly well. Soak your pieces in white vinegar for 15 to 30 minutes, then brush gently with a soft cloth. The acid cuts through buildup without being harsh on 316L stainless steel. Rinse with clean water and dry completely.

Baking soda is another solid option for stubborn spots. Mix it with a little water to make a paste, apply it gently to the affected area, let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse and dry. This method is especially useful if your Cross Belly Chain or any layered piece has picked up tarnish or discoloration.

Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, and abrasive scrubbers. Stainless steel is tough, but these can still damage the finish or leave scratches. Keep your cleaning approach simple — you really don't need anything fancy. And never use a microfiber cloth on these pieces; stick with soft cotton or linen instead.

Storage matters too. Keep your jewelry in a dry place, away from humidity if possible. If you wear your pieces daily, you probably don't need to store them at all — just give them a quick wash when you feel like they need it. The everyday wear is actually what keeps stainless steel looking its best.

The whole point of choosing quality materials is so you don't have to stress about maintenance. Your Goddess Shoulder Chain, your necklaces, your belly chains — they're designed to handle life. A little soap and water keeps them looking like the day you got them. That's it.
